Best carry on luggage
The Carry-On, from £215 | Away
The Carry-On suitcase is sized to fit in the overhead bin of most major airlines, and is compact enough for train and car trips alike. With a durable polycarbonate hard shell and 360° spinner wheels that ensure a smooth ride, this suitcase is built to last.
For those looking for a lightweight carry-on suited for all of your travel needs, this suitcase features an interior compression system and hidden laundry bag that make it even easier to pack all of your essentials.
If you’re going on a short weekend away, or you’re lucky enough to be a light packer, then a carry-on suitcase or bag is for you. Cabin size luggage is usually 56cm x 45 x 25cm, which is the allowance permitted by most airlines including British Airways. However it’s always worth checking with your airline for the luggage options, as they can vary.
For example Ryanair’s allowance is smaller at 55cm x 40cm x 20cm, so make sure your suitcase is the right size, or you might incur additional costs. Scroll down to shop my favourite carry-on luggage.
Best large suitcases
C-Lite Spinner (4 wheels), £339 | Samsonite
This top-notch suitcase now ensures an even smoother travel experience offering double wheels and an elongated double pull handle. Its incredible lightness and outstanding comfort will make your journey even more delightful.
Plus, we love the fun metallic green colour. You will definitely be able to spot your luggage in the airport with this one.
Long-haul destinations call for large suitcases, which saves you whittling down your holiday wardrobe too much. The best ones come with four wheels for easy handling, and separate zip-up compartments for your more delicate items. Though fabric suitcases are generally lighter, for long trips I recommend hard shell cases as they’re more durable and are less likely to get damaged in transit.
Best luggage for clothes
The Garment Bag, £175 | Away
The Garment Bag can fit two suits or three full-length garments, and features an exterior zip pocket for easy access to travel essentials as well as interior zip pockets for shoes and accessories. A zip-out hook makes it easy to hang in a closet or over a door, while the luggage clip secures it seamlessly to any Away suitcase.
If you’re not a fan of rolling up your clothes in a case (this does save loads of space), then a garment bag such as the above Away one is for you. It’ll allow you to keep dresses and suits relatively flat. A carry-on closet suitcase is another great option to keep clothes organised.
Best travel bags
Highgate Leather Holdall, Chocolate, from £249 | Barbour
Perfect for overnight stays, the Barbour Highgate leather holdall showcases a large external zip for a secure and protected fastening. A front zip pocket adds handy storage while a removable shoulder strap offers an alternative carry method.
Internal pockets ensure easy storage and protection while you’re on the move, with the full-grain leather design finished with an embossed leather badge to the outer front.
Though less easy to drag around than a suitcase, a travel bag is a great space-saving choice, especially if you’re heading on a mini break by car. Thule, Rimowa and Longchamp also have some great classic options.
